KCR lays special focus on 34 Assembly seats where BRS won with a slender margin

Hyderabad: BRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has laid special focus on 34 Assembly seats where party candidates polled less than 50 per cent votes in 2018 Assembly polls.

Although the party candidates emerged victorious, their margin of victory was lower in the range of 5,000 votes to 10,000 votes. Few MLAs won with a majority of just a few hundred votes. Party sources said that the CM alerted ministers and MLAs representing these seats to improve their performance. In a few of these seats, the CM is reportedly also looking at alternate candidates for upcoming Assembly polls in December who will be decided based on survey reports.

Minister Koppula Eshwar won with a majority of just 440 votes against Congress candidate, minister G.Jagadish Reddy won with a majority of 5,967 votes against Congress candidate and Allola Indrakaran Reddy won with a majority of 9,271 votes against Congress candidate.

MLAs N.Diwakar Rao won with a majority of 4,838 votes against Congress candidate, Athram Sakku won with a majority of just 171 votes from Congress against BRS but joined BRS later, Gampa Govardhan won with a majority of 4,557 votes against Congress, Manchireddy Kishan Reddy won with a majority of just 376 votes against BSP, Sabitha Indra Reddy from Congress won with a majority of 9,227 votes against BRS but joined BRS later, Methuku Anand won with a majority of just 3,092 votes against Congress, Rohith Reddy from Congress won with a majority of just 2,875 votes against BRS but joined BRS later, Kaleru Venkatesh won with a majority of just 1,016 votes against BJP, Patnam Narender won with a majority of 9,319 votes against Congress, Jaipal Yadav won with a majority of 3,447 votes against BJP, Bollam Mallaiah Yadav won with a majority of just 756 votes against Congress, Chirumarthi Lingaiah from Congress won with a majority of 8,259 votes against BRS but joined BRS later, Gadari Kishore won with a majority of just 1,847 votes against Congress, Lavudya Ramulu won as Independent with 2,013 votes against BRS but joined BRS later, Vanama Venkateshwara Rao from Congress won with 4,139 votes against BRS but joined BRS later, Haripriya Banoth from Congress won with 2,887 votes against BRS but joined BRS later, Kandala Upender Reddy from Congress won with a majority of 7,669 votes against BRS but joined BRS later.

Party sources said that the CM is regularly obtaining survey reports from these constituencies to determine their winning prospects in upcoming Assembly polls. The surveys are also reportedly done to identify alternate candidates in case there is no improvement in the performance of existing MLAs.
