Bengaluru: Cop suspended for hurling shoe at biker
Bengaluru: After a video of a traffic police constable hurling a shoe at two bike borne students, who were riding without helmet, went viral on social media platforms, the erring constable has been suspended.
The constable was attached to the Jalahalli traffic police station and the incident took place five days ago on BEL Road.
In the video, the Jalahalli traffic police sub-inspector, along with a constable, are checking vehicles. Just then two bike borne students, who were riding without helmet, passed without stopping. The constable removed his shoe and threw at them.
A senior official said that so far the two students have not approached the police to file a complaint against the constable.
The video was taken by a car driver who was driving behind them and had uploaded it on social media sites.
The video went viral and evoked angry response from the public. Many demanded that the police should take action against the constable.
DCP Traffic (West) Shivakumar said as soon they got to know about the incident, they conducted a detailed inquiry and suspended the constable.
