Chemists to close shops today across AP
Vijayawada: Druggists and chemists across the state are heading to stall their sales for 24 hours on Tuesday following bandh call given by the All-India Organisation of Chemists opposing online sale of medicines and drugs through e- portals.
Druggist and chemist associations are making alternative arrangements to supply emergency medicines for the needy.
In Vijayawada, the Krishna District Druggist and Chemist Association have arranged a helpline for supplying emergency medicines. Medicines will be supplied through local medical chains with a call to the association’s helpline number 0866-2422769.
In Vishakapatnam, the Visakha Chemists Welfare Society also arranged a helpline number to ensure that patients in emergency do not suffer. People can contact in case of emergencies at 9849122787.
The helpline will guide the people giving information about chemists shops opened in different localities. Chemists counters associated with major private and government hospitals will remain open, said Visakha Chemists’ Welfare Society secretary B. Srinivasa Rao.
The Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Eluru Chemists’ association of East Godavari have decided to open four medical stores in Rajahmundry — Shiva Gowri Medicals, Devi Chowk; Sri Tirumala General Stores, T. Nagar; Sai Lakshmi Medicals, Stadium Road, and Shivaji Pharmacy, AVA Road. Five medical stores at Kakinada will open for sale of emergency medicines on Tuesday.
