Kiran Bedi surprises V Narayanasamy on birthday
Puducherry: In an interesting turn of events Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi gave a pleasant surprise to Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, by visiting his residence on Tuesday. Just the day before, the CM had boycotted the dinner organised by Ms Bedi.
The Lt Governor also visited the residence of speaker V Vaithilingam, and in turn the Speaker attended a function organised Raj Nivas on Tuesday evening. The Lt Governor, who is known to cycle around town frequently, stopped suddenly in front of the Chief Minister's residence, much to the amusement of people around.
The Lt Governor greeted Mr Narayanasamy who is celebrating his 71st birthday on Wednesday. Ms Bedi had invited the Chief Minister and his colleagues to a
dinner organised at Raj Nivas on Monday as she completes two years in office.
But the CM, his ministers, Congress legislators and those of their ally DMK had boycotted the function to protest against the 'non-cooperative' stand of Lt Governor in issues related to the development of Puducherry.
Despite this and their differences over various issues and bitter exchanges, Ms Bedi surprised the CM this morning. But Mr Narayanasamy refused to comment on this in a press conference.
The Chief Minister answered with a ‘smile’ to a question about Ms Bedi's visit.
The Lt Governor later made a surprise call on at the residence of speaker V Vaithilingam. Putting aside all the differences, the Speaker later attended a function organised at Raj Nivas.
