KCR wants twin towers' to bring HoDs near Secretariat

HYDERABAD: It has barely been a month since the opening of a grand-scale Secretariat, but Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao is already aiming for another architectural marvel — to construct a ‘twin towers’ building near the Secretariat for heads of various departments to operate out of. He also ordered the Chief Secretary on Monday to identify government land for the same.

The move came after a review meeting with officials at the Secretariat, to discuss the celebrations for the Tenth Formation Day of Telangana state. The Chief Minister enquired about the facilities provided to staff and officials at the Secretariat, in the one month since it was opened.

Chandrashekar Rao said that they would construct the ‘Integrated Twin Towers’ to set up offices of HoDs near the Secretariat. Keeping in view that their work would be closely associated with the Secretariat, the towers would be constructed near Secretariat for their convenience, the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister also enquired about all department heads, their staff details and other matters in this regard. Meanwhile, the Chief Minister reiterated that the government was committed to extending the assistance of caste-based occupations in the state. Chandrashekar Rao said that the government would provide financial assistance for Rajaka, Nayi Bhramna, Poosala and Budaga Jangala castes, among others.

Following the state government's promise, subcommittee chairman and BC welfare minister Gangula Kamalakar informed the Chief Minister that they would provide Rs. 1 lakh financial assistance to caste-based occupations, following which Chandrashekar Rao asked the minister to prepare guidelines for distributing funds. Later, the Chief Minister visited the under-construction Martyrs’ Memorial near Secretariat, directed the roads and buildings department officials to celebrate Telangana Dasabdi Formation by remembering the martyrs and also directed officials to install a Telangana Talli statue at the forefront of the memorial building. The Chief Minister further directed officials to make all arrangements for celebrating formation day across the state following which the Chief Secretary explained the day-wise schedule for the 21-day celebrations.
