Revanth: BRS Downfall Will Begin in Khammam

Hyderabad: TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy said that the countdown for the end of BRS rule in Telangana will begin in Khammam district. The state government is creating hurdles for the Congress ‘Jana Garjana’ public meeting scheduled for July 2 in Khammam, he alleged.

“We sought 1,500 RTC buses to mobilise the public but the government ignored our plea. Despite such highly condemnable obstructions, we will make a grand success of the meeting and throw the BRS government into the Bay of Bengal after the ensuing Assembly elections,” he said, adding that the party will sound the poll bugle at the meeting.

No power can stop the Congress from forming government in Telangana state and it will continue to stay in power for the next 10 years, he opined.

A preparatory meeting on ‘Jana Garjana Sabha’ was held at the DCC office in Khammam on Friday. AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders will attend the garjana event on July 2. Speaking to reporters, Revanth Reddy said that after consulting his followers, former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy decided to join Congress party in the presence of Kharge and Rahul Gandhi.

CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Renuka Chowdary and Srinivas Reddy will be part of the Congress clean sweep of all 10 Assembly seats in the undivided Khammam district, he said.

“Seniors and newcomers will work in tandem and help us win at least 80 seats. Dethroning BRS and coming to power will be our birthday gift to Sonia Gandhi”, he said.

He found fault with IT minister K.T. Rama Rao’s remarks that former Srinivas Reddy and Jupally Krishna Rao left BRS due to lack of space for them in the party.

“He should be reminded that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao left the Telugu Desam party after being denied a ministerial berth”, Reddy said.

Intelligence officials should submit evidence of the success of our meeting in Khammam to the Chief Minister, he said.

Chandrashekar Rao came out of Pragathi Bhavan, after former Srinivas Reddy decided to join Congress, the Congress leader said. He began distribution of pattas for podu lands following the huge response to CLP leader Bhatti’s peoples’ march, he said. He reiterated that after Congress comes to power, they will scrap the dharani portal.

Earlier, Revanth Reddy met Bhatti in Thallampadu village, which the latter reached as part of the peoples’ march.

Reddy said that people brought several issues to the notice of Vikramarka during the padayatra. The Congress party will resolve all those problems, he assured.
