Modernise higher education: Experts
Hyderabad: Higher education is the backbone of development and the basis of higher education has to be improved for India and Telangana to grow in the right direction. Focus on information technology alone will not help.
Looking at the alternative methods which have been employed by different small countries and states to grow, the shift has been from the flow of capital to that of information and later, restoration of culture.
Professor T. Papi Reddy, chairman of higher education in TS explained, “The Indian economy was inward looking with socialism as its guiding principle. But the developments of the 80s and 90s have helped it take the forward leap. We now need to strengthen it further and the focus has to be development and growth in different aspects.”
Professor Jagdish N Seth, academic strategic thinker from Emory University in USA explained, “What has been seen in the growth stories of nations is the need for quality. Goods, services and other channels need quality service and that is what drives global markets. Human capital is the biggest requirement in the technological world and it is very important that they are adequately skilled to allow them to give their best. For this reason, higher education in countries has to be updated and excellent.”
Need for good quality higher education is needed and it requires both government and private sectors to join hands and try to produce the best, they stated.
