Taxpayers Rush to File ITRs as Deadline Nears, 5.83 Crore Filings Reported
As the deadline for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) approaches, a staggering number of taxpayers have rushed to meet the cut-off. The Income Tax Department has reported an overwhelming response, with 5.83 crore ITRs filed till 1 pm on Sunday, surpassing the total number of filings recorded on the same day last year.
Up until 1 p.m. on Sunday, there were more than 46 lakh successful login attempts, showing how eager taxpayers are to fulfill their duties on time. On Saturday, the portal saw a record-breaking 1.78 crore successful logins, demonstrating an astounding level of tax compliance.
According to Income Tax India, 10.39 lakh ITRs were until afternoon on Sunday, with an astonishing 3.04 lakh ITRs filed up until 1 p.m. This sudden influx of filings reflects the last-minute rush that often accompanies the final day of the tax return filing season.
The Income Tax Department has been closely monitoring the situation and has taken measures to ensure a smooth and hassle-free filing process for taxpayers.
The deadline for filing ITRs is 31st July 2023, and taxpayers are encouraged to submit their returns without delay.
