DSC Notification with Eye on Poll: Revanth

The price of a gas cylinder was Rs 410 when Modi came to power

Hyderabad: Deriding the DSC (District Selection Committee) announced by the BRS government to fill teacher vacancies as a fraud on the aspirants and backing their demand for a mega DSC, TPCC president A. Revanth Reddy said it was announced with an eye on elections.

The state education department pegged the number of vacancies at 21,000 and the Chief Minister had personally said there are 13,000 openings. But the notifications have been issued only for 5,000 posts, Revanth said.

In an open letter to the media, senior Congress leader Komatireddy Venkat Reddy also found fault with the government for notifying 5,000 teacher posts only. “KCR had himself pegged the number of vacancies at 13,500,” he said.

Citing the successful implementation of the Gruha Lakshmi scheme in Karnataka by the Congress government, Revanth Reddy said, “We don’t give empty promises and put forward only those we can implement, unlike CM KCR. Our hand symbol stands for implementation of our promises and keeping our words.”

“By implementing four of the five promises made by us within 100 days, we have created history. What we promise in something written in stone for us and we will abide by them. We are for the welfare of the people in Telangana,” Revanth Reddy said.

In a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Revanth made light of the reduction in LPG prices, by Rs 200 announced by the Centre, comparing it to a wayside robber leaving Rs 200 to someone who has been looted of his entire belongings by him.

“The price of a gas cylinder was Rs 410 when Modi came to power which is currently priced at Rs 1,200. Having looted the poor and middle classes all through I don’t understand what else this can be compared to,” the TPCC chief said.

Addressing the BRS and BJP cadre who joined the party from the Quthbullapur Assembly constituency, he said, “Whatever development we witnessed in the slums of Hyderabad was done in the Congress regime. We have to take the failures of the BRS to the people with the slogan of ‘Tiragabadadam-Tarimikodadam’.”

“Once we come to power, we will give Rs 4,000 pension to the old, widows, handicapped, beedi workers, single women, toddy tappers, handloom workers, AIDS victims, filarial and dialysis patients. The Rs 2 lakh loan waiver will be done and two lakh vacant posts will be filled within a year. Gas cylinders will be given for Rs 500. The party will increase the health insurance cover under Aarogyasri to Rs 5 lakh and provide Rs 5 lakh to the homeless for construction of houses,” Revanth Reddy said.

In a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan, NSUI president Balmoori Venkat and TPCC spokesperson Galreddy Harshavardhan Reddy demanded immediate fulfilment of all 40,000 teacher posts. They said the state was achieved to realise jobs for the youth of Telangana and warned of a serious agitation in case of failure to announce notification to fill all vacant posts.
