Bid to bring Azaan International school under Telangana control
Hyderabad: Expressing displeasure over the two alleged incidents of sexual assault of minor girls at the Azaan International School in Tolichowki, the High Court on Saturday directed the Commissioner of School Education to take instructions on how to bring the school under direct management of the department. It asked the Commissioner to inform the court by Monday.
Justice A. Rajasheker Reddy gave the order on a petition filed by Mir Yousuf Ali, the father of one of the students of Azaan school. The petition stated that action had not been taken against the school chairman and the principal for running the school in violation of the AP Educational Institutions Rules, 1993 and in violation of GO Ms. No 1 of 1994.
Counsel appearing for the petitioner, Abdul Mateen Qureshi submitted that the school with about 2,000 students had been running without any safety measures.
Informing the court of the rape of a minor student, he said that after the registration of a FIR in the first incident, a similar incident was reported on the same day. These two incidents showed that the management was unfit to run the institution.
Reacting to the submissions, Justice Rajasheker Reddy expressed deep displeasure at the shameful incidents and said that in view of the safety of children, the issue needed to be dealt with expeditiously. Posting the matter for hearing on Monday, the judge asked the commissioner to come up with measures to take the school under the direct management of the department.
