Railway minister inspects Vizag stn's revamp works

Visakhapatnam: On her three-day visit to Visakhapatnam on Saturday, MoS Railways, Darshana Jardosh, highlighted the prominence of Visakhapatnam railway station as one of the busiest in the nation. During her visit, she acknowledged the foundation stone laying ceremony for the station's redevelopment by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and reaffirmed her dedication to ensure timely completion of multiple projects.

The minister conducted a comprehensive inspection of the station, during which she assessed the progress of ongoing redevelopment initiatives and various infrastructure developments within the station's precincts.

As part of her visit, Darshana Jardosh explored the “One Station One Product” stall at the station, featuring the exhibition of Etikoppaka toys. She interacted with the vendors, inquired about the sales, and discussed opportunities for collaboration with the railways.

Jardosh actively participated in the “Swachhta Abhiyan – Ban Plastic” campaign, distributing health kits to the dedicated safai karmacharis (cleaning staff) at the station, praising their crucial role in maintaining cleanliness.

Another highlight of her visit was inauguration of the Coach Restaurant at the station, a project developed under Non-Fare Revenue by the Waltair Division. The minister commended the Division for its innovative projects and efficient resource utilisation.

During her inspection, the minister was accompanied by divisional railway manager (DRM) Saurabh Prasad, MP (Rajya Sabha), G.V.L. Narasimha Rao, ex-MLC P.N. Madhav and several railway officials.
