Doors, blackboards of a UP school were being defaced for many months
Lucknow: To protest against continued harassment by anti-social elements, two schools in Bahraich district have decided to opt for an unusual method to get their message across.
Two primary schools Akbarpura and Gudri in Bahraich in Steelganj Talab area are housed in the same building.
Since the past few months, some anti-social elements have been defacing the school doors, lock and blackboards with excrement.
The teachers have been complaining about the situation to the officials concerned, including police, but no action was taken.
On Monday too, when the teachers and students arrived, they found that the school premises had been defaced again.
Then the teachers decided to hold classes on the road and students brought out mats and sat on the road. As the classes began, the matter was brought to the notice of the local police, municipal board authorities and the officials concerned of the basic education department. The students and school staff were asked to enter the school after three hours when the sanitary staff from Bahraich Municipality reached the school and cleaned the doors and black boards.
Ranjana Rastogi headmistress of primary school Akbarpura said, “The school was being defaced to mentally harass the staff and students.” Neelam, headmistress of Gudri primary school, said ‘due to the defacement many students started avoiding the school’. She further said they had reported the matter to the police several times but in vain. “Many times we paid from our pocket for cleaning the locks and school doors by sweepers. Finally we had enough of it and decided to hold classes on road,” she said.
The teachers of the two schools have hinted at the possible involvement of a local shopkeeper who had earlier been using the school building as a warehouse.
