Telangana failed to put pressure on SCCL: MLA

Khammam: Sattupalli MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah said that the government failed to exert pressure on Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) to rehabilitate the evacuees of the Open Cast mine. In a letter to the government, he said the SCCL commenced blasting operations without settling the problems of the residents of Kommepalli and other panchayats that were acquired for OC.

“Women and children are scared by the blasting but the management has not taken any initiative to settling the land problem with the revenue officials. SCCL management washed its hands of and were not responding to appeal by the evacuees,” he said, adding that the government also failed to get the work by the revenue officials on the issue speeded up.
