Constituencies in erstwhile Adilabad record highest voter turnout by 1 PM
ADILABAD: A few Assembly constituencies have registered the highest polling percentage by 1 pm in the erstwhile Adilabad district. Asifabad recorded 45.53 percent, Boath Assembly Constituency recorded 43.83 percent while Khanapur recorded 43.50 percent, Adilabad 40.2%, and Sirpur (T) 36.20%. Nirmal registered 38.28 percent voting and Mudhole recorded 43.7 percent of polling by 1 pm.
Most of these constituencies have tribal populations and remote villages. Still, these areas registered high polling percentages with voters casting their votes from early morning.
Long queues of voters are seen at the polling booths in Adilabad and Boath towns.
Meanwhile, villagers of Varipet boycotted the polling demanding the creation of Varipet and Kotha Varipet villages as new gram panchayats in Kasipet mandal in Bellampalli Assembly Constituency in Mancherial district.
However, candidates Gaddam Vinod of Congress and Durgam Chinnaiah of BRS took note of the villagers' demand and convinced them after which they came to polling stations to exercise their franchise.
