The untimely demise of the 1999 batch IPS officer of Karnataka cadre has shocked the police department. “He was one of the brightest and most upright officers Karnataka police had. He withstood all pressures and worked fearlessly. We had handpicked Madhukar for the Lokayukta police team. I am shocked that he is no more. He was only 47 years old! This is no age to go,” said R.K. Dutta, former director general and inspector general of police.
ADGP (Prisons) N.S. Megharikh was one of the first officers to have posted his tributes to the late officer. “Madhukar belonged to the rarest of rare tribes of IPS officers. He was one of my dearest in service officers, who was professionally competent, and was tallest in stature as an officer and human being. His untimely demise is a rude shock and a personal loss to me,” said Megharikh.
“Madhukar was unique. He was always concerned about the lower rung personnel of the department. As SP, STF he fought for enhancing the diet allowance for the police personnel. Wherever he was posted he worked with the people and left an indelible mark as a humane officer. As probationer ASP, Kalaburagi (rural) he used to go around with the constables on their two wheelers to get a first-hand information about people’s problems. They don’t make officers like Madhukar anymore,” said Soumendu Mukherjee, IGP, Internal Security Division.
