Bengaluru gets Rs 8,015 crore from govt for flyovers, white topping , footpaths
Bengaluru: The state Cabinet on Wednesday approved financial assistance of Rs 8,015 crore for the BBMP under the Chief Minister's ‘Nave Bengaluru’ project for construction of flyovers, white topping, construction of storm water drains and improving footpaths in the city.
Speaking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister, Krishna Byregowda said the civic body was expected to spend the money over the next two years to upgrade the infrastructure of Bengaluru, which was growing in economic status. The fund allocation , announced in the last budget, would not be used for the Namma Metro or other such projects, he explained.
The Cabinet has also approved re-modelling of the Karnataka Bhavan at Chanakyapuri in New Delhi at a cost of Rs 78 crore.
In other decisions it cleared leasing of 10 acres in Belavadi, Ilavala taulk, Mysuru for a special purpose vehicle to promote silk industries under the Chamundeshwari Mega Silk Cluster Limited, supplying drinking water to 16 settlements near Ankanahalli in Srirangapattana taluk at a cost of Rs 26 crore and a drinking water project for 10 villages around Alamatti at a cost of Rs 16 crore.
It gave administrative approval for building a hostel and library at Mysuru Medical college at a cost of Rs 67 crore and to build a boys’ and girls’ hostels and renovate the auditorium at KIMS, Hubballi at a cost of Rs 24 crore.
