Chennai: MAM's cars stolen, police register case

The cars, a Mercedez Benz (TN 06 R 6445) and Toyota Camry (TN 06 P 6445).

Chennai: Two luxury sedans of late MAM Ramasamy were stolen from the garage in the palatial Chettinad palace in R A Puram. The Chennai city police have registered a case of this theft on Monday under IPC sections of trespassing and theft against three known persons.

The cars, a Mercedez Benz (TN 06 R 6445) and Toyota Camry (TN 06 P 6445), were reportedly stolen on February 22 this year, the FIR registered at the Foreshore estate police station, based on a complaint lodged by Dr Kumararani Meena Muthiah, sister-in-law of MAM Ramasamy, said.

The FIR says that case was registered under IPC sections of 454 (trespassing) and 380 (theft). It may be recalled that Chetinad scions’ fight over late sedans was taken to the Madras high court in the beginning of March this year when the Chennai police failed to register an FIR on the petition from Dr Kumararani Meena Muthiah.

The fight over the cars were going on for some time between MAM’s disowned son MAMR Muthiah, managing director, Chettinad group and Kumararani Meena Muthiah, MAM Ramasamy’s late brother’s wife.

On February 22, men employed by MAMR Muthiah allegedly took away the two cars, claimed Meena Muthiah’s camp. “We have also given the video footage of the act to the police,” sources close to Meena Muthiah
said.

According to her that all the movable and immovable property of MAM Ramaswamy are now under the control of DR MAM Ramasamy Chettiar of Chettinad Charitable Trust, in which she is an executive.
