Child rape, murder case will be cracked soon: Coimbatore police
COIMBATORE: In the midst of mooting pressure from various sections of the society, Coimbatore SP, R Pandiarajan assured that the rape and murder case of seven-year-old girl from Kasthurinaickenpudur will be cracked soon.
Recalling the timeline of the rape and murder of the minor, the SP said, "it is possible that the girl was raped and assaulted between 5:45 pm and 6:40 pm. She did not return home and this prompted her mother to search for the girl on Tuesday evening. The following day, the body of the minor girl with injuries was found near her home."
Adding that it is difficult to ascertain if one or more persons are involved in the crime, the SP said that a detailed post-mortem report can confirm the same. "We have no eye-witnesses in the case nor do we have CCTV footage to assist us. We are relying on circumstantial evidence and the detailed post-mortem report." SP Pandiarajan told DC over phone on Saturday.
Seconding him is investigation officer of the All Women Police Stations in Thudiyalur, Meenambigai who said, "phone numbers where public can call and share valid information about the crime has yielded no results. We are awaiting the detailed post-mortem report which we will receive soon to provide a break-through in the case." she said. After receiving the report the police will confirm the number of persons involved in the crime," she added.
Both of them agreed that a person know to the minor is responsible for the crime and as on Saturday afternoon as many as 100 persons have been questioned in the case. Meanwhile, the police claim that they have not yet traced the owner or the person who used the shirt that was recovered from the crime scene. The piece of apparel has the logo of 'CS Academy' printed on it.
