TNAB & TSCSB inaugurated
Hyderabad: Telangana State Anti-Narcotics Bureau (T-NAB) and Telangana State Cyber Security Bureau (TSCSB), the two first-of-its-kind specialised wings of Telangana state police department in the country, dedicated to fighting the menace of drugs and cybercrimes, became operational on Wednesday.
Home Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali inaugurated both wings which will be operating from the recently-inaugurated Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) at Banjara Hills.
Speaking at the event, Mahmood Ali said that in addition to the state-of-the-art ICCC, these two wings will add strength to the state policing department and ensure that the menace of drugs is rooted out from the state. “Cybercrimes will also be prevented and adequate awareness will be provided to the people. These two wings are yet another example of what Telangana state initiates and the country follows,” he said.
T-NAB is headed by C.V. Anand and TSCSB by M. Stephen Raveendra, in addition to their current charge as Hyderabad, and Cyberabad police commissioners respectively.
Director General of Police Anjani Kumar said that every crime being reported has an element of cybercrime and the TSCSB will play a vital role in cybercrime investigation, prevention and spreading awareness among the people. At the same TNAB will ensure that the future of the state is protected from the drugs menace, which is growing at a rampant rate. “C.V. Anand and Stephen Raveendra have raised these wings and now they are operational,” he said. Anjani Kumar said that both wings will get new staff once the ongoing recruitment process is completed.
Anand said on the directions of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao to crack down on drug menace, Hyderabad-Narcotic Enforcement Bureau (H-NEW) was started and the experience the police gained in dealing with drug peddlers helped them significantly.
Stephen Raveendra said that the traditional cybersecurity mechanisms have become obsolete with the cybercriminals adapting more sophisticated ways and TSCSB will work to nip them.
