National Flag inventor Pingali Venkayya centenary celebrations in Delhi on Aug. 2

Reddy said there will be a Tiranga Yatra from Delhi Airport to Vijay Chowk on August 3 in which MPs will participate on motorcycles

VIJAYAWADA: On the occasion of 75 years of Independence, Union Minister Kishan Reddy has called on the people to hoist the National Flag on every house on August 15 and make the nation’s "Har Ghar Tiranga" programme a great success.

The Union minister visited Bhatlapenumarru, the native village of national flag inventor Pingali Venkayya on Sunday. He said the centenary celebrations of Pingali Venkaiah will be held in Delhi on August 2.

Reddy noted that the Centre is organising the ‘75 Years of independence’ celebrations in a grand manner. Programmes have been undertaken to know about the sacrificers and all the states are participating in the Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav. He said that the centenary celebrations of Pingali Venkayya will be held in Delhi on August 2, he said.

The minister, while in Bhatlapenumarru in Krishna district, invited the family members of Pingali on behalf of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the celebrations in New Delhi.

“The PM will honour Pingali Venkayya’s family members. A postal stamp with Pingali's photo will be released in Delhi and the national flag designed by him will be displayed. A special patriotic song will be released on August 2 at the Pingali Jayanti meeting.

Reddy said there will be a Tiranga Yatra from Delhi Airport to Vijay Chowk on August 3 in which MPs will participate on motorcycles. A programme will be held on August 14 under the name of 'Vibhajan Vibhishika Smriti Divas' (Partition Horrors Remembrance Day) and everyone is called upon to hold a candlelight rally on the night of August 14.

The minister said that on August 15, people should pay their respects to the idols of Freedom fighters. National flags will be available at all post offices. The government will develop the areas where freedom fighter Alluri Sitharamaraju walked, he said, and announced that an Alluri Museum is being constructed at Lambasingi at a cost of Rs 35 crore.

Reddy participated in the BJP meeting and visited the Telugu States Photographers Carnival in Vijayawada. He and AP BJP president Somu Veerraju viewed the newly available cameras and their performance in the carnival.
