Vijayawada: Top official suspended over ACB trap

The murky details came to the fore after T. Tarakesh, the sub-registrar, presented CCTV footage to Bose as proof of his innocence.

Vijayawada: Deputy Chief Minister, P. Subhash Chandra Bose, on Wednesday suspended deputy inspector general (stamps and registration department), A. Ravindranath, on charges of hatching a conspiracy to frame a sub-registrar with the help of Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials.

The murky details came to the fore after T. Tarakesh, the sub-registrar, presented CCTV footage to Bose as proof of his innocence.

Going through the footage, Bose found that ACB officials conducted a raid on the sub-registrar’s office at Madhuravada of Visakhapatnam on October 9.

The ACB officials did not find any anomalies but they still stayed there for some time.

During their stay, ACB inspector, Abdul Gafoor, brought `61,500 into the office and put the money in the file with the help of constable P. Naidu. The ACB then registered a case against Tarakesh.

Soon after, Ravindranath transferred Tarakesh without checking the facts. Bose found clear evidence of a conspiracy against Mr Tarakesh and ordered the suspension of Mr Ravindranath. Special chief secretary, S. Sambasiva Rao, issued GO 1,080 suspending the DIG on Wednesday.
