Hyderabad business on a roll ahead of New Year
Hyderabad: It is brisk business for drivers, DJs, confectionaries, clubs, hotels, wine shops and more. The New Year eve celebration is getting bigger every year and shopping malls are rolling out pre-New Year offers.
Restaurants and hotels are also providing drivers to revellers. Home delivery apps and other services are encouraging party lovers to have the bashes at home.
Many residents have made pre-bookings to attend New Year events at resorts, pubs, clubs and restaurants. The few who wish to avoid spending money and keep off the roads have planned to spend their time at home or in guest houses. Apartments and communities are also planning New Year bash on their premises.
Kukatpally resident K. Bharath said, “In our apartment, we have a retro-theme where all of us have to dress up like in the 80s and 90s. There will be DJ. Food and lot of dance competitions have been arranged without alcohol. We are excited to spend this year in a different way with our neighbours.”
Noticeably, ticket prices has remained the same over the last few years, though the cost for conducting an event has gone up, according to event managers and city DJs.
Mr Piyush Bajaj, a popular DJ from Hyderabad, said, “Parties have not become costly at all, in fact the event managers are unable to increase prices. Since demonetisation, event managers are not getting sponsorships which generally used to cover the entire budget. This year tickets are available for couples up to Rs 3,999 and Rs 2,229 for stags.”
Mr Aditya Murthy, an event manager, said, “People are under the impression that event managers have made a lot of money when they see huge crowds at an event. But the truth is that event managers really face a big loss if they don’t get sponsorships.”
He said vendors incr-ease the price mainly on New Year eve.
“If we raise prices at events , people may think we are charging more. But the fact is we are charging very less compared to what we have spent on arrangements, decoration, food, music and alcohol.”
