BRS Alleges Ponnam Kin Involvement in Illegal Fly Ash Transportation, Seeks Action
Hyderabad: The BRS has alleged a scam in the removal and transportation of fly ash from the NTPC’s Ramagundam Thermal Power Plant, and charged minister Ponnam Prabhakar with involvement. BRS MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy, K.P Vivekanand, and Dr K. Sanjay levelled these allegations at a press conference on Tuesday.
Kaushik Reddy said while 32 tonnes of fly ash is to be transported in a lorry, 72 tonnes were being carried, and the waybills did not mention the quantity being carried. “As much as Rs 50 lakh is being made illegally by way of carrying additional fly ash that is not being accounted for and this money is being collected by the minister’s nephew Anoop. I have caught 30 such lorries that were travelling via Husnabad. When the authorities were informed, they seized two lorries and let the rest go,” Kaushik Reddy said.
He demanded a thorough probe into the flyash transportation as well as the role of NTPC officials. “I have the evidence. Instead of taking action, the minister is encouraging protests against me. If this activity does not stop, then our cadres will take to the street and block the lorries,” he warned.
