Warangal: In a significant blow to the BRS party, officials from the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) have issued legal notices demanding the party submit permission copies for their office building in Balasamudram. This action has intensified the turmoil within the BRS, already reeling from a series of resignations by key leaders.
The BRS office, constructed during their tenure in power, sits on one acre of government land allocated at a significantly reduced rate of Rs. 100 per yard, despite the area's market value of Rs. 75,000 per yard. This allocation, on survey number 1,066, has been a point of contention, particularly with opposition parties like Congress, who have long opposed the move, alleging misuse of valuable government land worth around Rs. 30 crores.
Recently, with Congress winning the Warangal West assembly constituency, the issue has resurfaced. Newly elected Congress MLA Naini Rajendar Reddy has highlighted the lack of permissions and unpaid dues related to the BRS office, prompting an official complaint to the Hanamkonda collector, Praveena.
Following the complaint, RDO N. Venkatesh canceled the land allotment and issued a notice under the Municipalities Act 2019, section 254, requiring the BRS to provide necessary permissions within three days. Despite the notices, BRS district president and former MLA Dasyam Vinay Bhaskar initially failed to respond, leading officials to deliver the notice to his residence personally.
