Chhattisgarh: BJP Supporter Chops Finger to Appease Deity after NDA Crosses Majority Mark
Chhattisgarh: A BJP supporter in a Chhattisgarh town chopped off his finger to fulfil a vow he had made to the deity in a local temple after BJP-led NDA crossed the majority mark in the counting of votes in the LS elections on June four.
Durgesh Pandey (30), resident of district headquarters of Balrampur in north Chhattisgarh, got upset when BJP was trailing in many LS seats in the initial trends of LS elections on June four and visited the local Kali temple where he took a vow to propitiate the deity if NDA won the majority.
He revisited the temple after a few hours when he learnt that NDA was set to win the majority and chopped off his left hand finger to offer the deity.
He tried to stop bleeding in his wound by tying a cloth around it.
He was later rushed to the local community health centre (CHC) when the bleeding did not stop.
Doctors in the CHC referred him to Ambikapur Medical College Hospital in the state after giving him first aid treatment.
However, doctors failed to reattach his severed finger due to delay in treatment.
“I chopped off my finger and offered it to the deity to fulfil my vow made before the deity after NDA won majority”, he said.
