Chhattisgarh: Sai Greets Kanwariyas by Showering Flower Petals From Chopper

Raipur: Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Monday accorded warm welcome to the ‘Kanwariyas’, thronging the famous Bhoramdeo temple in Kawardha in Chhattisgarh on the occasion of third Monday of Hindu calendar month of Shravan, by showering flower petals on them from a helicopter.

This marks the first time in the history of Chhattisgarh that a chief minister has personally welcomed Shiva devotees by showering flowers on them from a chopper, a spokesman of Chhattisgarh government said.

Deputy Chief Minister (DCM) Vijay Sharma accompanied him in the chopper journey.

The chief minister also performed customary rituals and “Rudrabhishek” of Lord Shiva at Bhoramdeo, praying for the prosperity and happiness of the people, he added.

Mr Sai interacted with the devotees in the temple and personally served them ‘kheer’ (a sweet dish made out of rice and milk), puri (a dish made of wheat) and rice on the occasion

Baba Bhoramdeo temple, a site of ancient, historical and archaeological significance dating back to 1th century, hosts the annual Kanwar Yatra during ‘Shravan’.

In this yatra, devotees carry the holy water of Narmada river from Amarkantak, traversing challenging paths to perform “Jalabhishek” at the Baba Bhoramdeo temple.
