Congress Leaders Pay Tributes to Rajiv Gandhi
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, AICC Telangana affairs incharge Deepa Dasmunsi, senior Congress leaders V.Hanumantha Rao, K. Jana Reddy, Mohd Ali Shabbir and others paid rich tributes to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his death anniversary on Tuesday.
They paid floral tributes to Rajiv Gandhi at his statue at Somajiguda.
Speaking on the occasion, Revanth Reddy, who is also TPCC president, described Rajiv Gandhi as the architect of modern India. He recalled the contributions of Rajiv Gandhi to the development of the information technology sector.
Bhatti said Rajiv Gandhi tried to make India compete with other countries in the international arena but sadly he lost his life in the hands of evil forces.
"It was Rajiv Gandhi who encouraged the technology sector in the country and motivated youth to participate in politics on a large scale. Thanks to the path laid by Rajiv Gandhi, today information was being gathered in minutes about what kind of crops were being cultivated where and how much paddy had been procured. The Congress government would take forward the path of Rajiv Gandhi in meeting public requirements," he said.
Revenue and I&PR minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy paid rich tributes to the Rajiv Gandhi statue at Kusumanchi in Khammam district. Transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar, currently on a tour in the United States, participated in a programme to commemorate Rajiv Gandhi’s memory at Times Square in New York. He said Rajiv Gandhi had reduced the voting age to 18, thus enabling youth to participate in the nation's development.
Hanumantha Rao said Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed his life for national unity and integrity when several anti-social forces were dividing the country in the name of religion and caste.
