Hyderabad: Approximately seven lakh people are expected to avail of fish prasadam, which is believed to cure bronchial ailments, this year, according to the Bathini Goud family which has been administering it for 174 years. People from all over the globe come to Hyderabad for the June 8 prasadam distribution.
The Bathini family on Monday interacted with the media and said that the distribution would start around 11 am at Exhibition Grounds in Nampally on June 8, Mrigarasira Karthe.
Bathini Amarnath Goud told Deccan Chronicle that last year around five lakh people had taken the fish prasadam. The prasadam is placed on the mouth of a fishling and is swallowedwhole by those suffering from bronchial ailments.
The family has approached the state government for facilitating accommodation and transport arrangements as well as security, and NGOs who provide food, drinking water and other items needed by those who turn up to receive the prasadam.
