Hyderabad: Mahendar Singh Choudhary, a hardcore criminal wanted in several chain snatchings, on Tuesday was arrested by the Cyberabad police.
Upon receiving several complaints, police noticed a certain pattern in the crimes wherein a delivery boy in gig worker’s uniform, snatched chains. A thorough probe was conducted in which over 300 CCTV footages were scanned.
This led the identity of the accused and his eventual arrest. The police recovered 55.15 grams of gold and a bike from his possession.
Earlier, Choudhary, involved in 36 chain snatchings between 2012 and 2015, had been arrested under the Preventive Detention (PD) Act. He worked for a quick commerce company in Visakhapatnam to cover his identity as he carried out his criminal activities.
The notorious criminal ran into the police dragnet when he committed chain snatchings in Bachupally, Jagadirgutta and Nizampet under Cyberabad police station limits, DCP (SOT) Srinivas, said.
