India Won’t Bow To Terrorism: PM Modi
On the eve of the first anniversary of the attack, the Indian Army also recalled Operation Sindoor and issued a strong message against terrorism

NEW DELHI: On the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack, President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday said the country remains resolute in its determination to defeat terrorism everywhere in all its forms. Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that India will never bow to any form of terror and the heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed.
"Remembering the innocent lives lost in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on this day last year. They will never be forgotten," Mr Modi posted on X. He also said his thoughts are also with the bereaved families as they cope with this loss.
"As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed," the Prime Minister added.
Paying tribute to the victims, the President said, "The tragic loss of innocent lives in that heinous act remains etched in our collective memory. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families. The entire nation stands with them. Such acts of terror cannot deter our unwavering commitment to peace and unity."
Condemning the Pahalgam massacre, vice-president C.P. Radhakrishnan said such acts of brutality can never shake India's resolve to uphold peace, unity, and the enduring values of humanity. "We remain firm in our determination to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," he said.
Union home minister Amit Shah said India will continue its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and those who harbour it. In a message posted on X, he said, "The grief and pain of losing our people still remain in the heart of every Indian."
"Terrorism is the greatest enemy of humanity, against which we must stand united to fight and defeat. India will continue its zero-tolerance policy against terrorism and those who harbour it," Mr Shah said.
The defence minister Rajnath Singh underscored the government's strong response to terrorism and said the nation will not forget the victims. "We will never forget those wounds inflicted on our nation. India has endured decades of cross-border terror, but today our response is firm, decisive and unwavering. Through determined action, we have demonstrated that any attempt to harm our people or disrupt our unity will be met with strength and clarity," he said.
External affairs minister S. Jaishankar reiterated India's firm resolve against terrorism. "Join the nation in remembering the victims of the dastardly Pahalgam terror attack, which took place on this day last year. India stands steadfast in its resolve to counter terrorism in all its forms and manifestations," he said.
Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Tayyaba carried out an attack at Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22 last year, killing 26 innocent people, mostly tourists from across India.
After the Pahalgam terror attack, India carried out a retaliatory military offensive against Pakistan named Operation Sindoor, in which Indian armed forces destroyed military and terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
