Jaipur: A Ugandan woman who was admitted to a hospital in Jaipur after displaying Ebola-like symptoms has tested negative for the virus, Rajasthan health authorities said.

The woman, who had arrived in Rajasthan as a tourist, was admitted to the Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS) Hospital and placed in isolation as a precaution after developing symptoms associated with Ebola.

Meanwhile, in a separate case, a Sudanese national was isolated at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on Thursday after airport health officials detected fever during routine thermal screening of international passengers.

The passenger was shifted to Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad for observation. Hospital officials said samples have been collected and sent to the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) for testing.

Amid concerns over Ebola outbreaks in parts of Africa, the Central Government has advised citizens to avoid non-essential travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and South Sudan.

The World Health Organization (WHO), under the International Health Regulations (IHR) 2005, declared the Ebola outbreaks in Congo and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) on May 17, 2026.

The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) has also classified the ongoing outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola Virus Disease in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda as a Public Health Emergency of Continental Security (PHECS).
