Kadapa Violence: Cases Against Deputy CM Amzad Basha, TD Politburo Member
Anantapur: Kadapa Two Town police on Tuesday registered cases against Deputy Chief Minister Amzad Basha, TD politburo member K. Sreenivasulu Reddy and their aides in connection with the violence at Gousenagar in Kadapa headquarters on May 13, the day of polling.
On May 13 evening, followers of YSRC and TD resorted to violence and pelting stones at each other in Gousenagar. Amzad Basha had been present at the time.
As per a complaint by Kadapa DSP, the Deputy CM reportedly abused TD cadres. The provocation led to TD followers headed by politburo member Sreenivasulu Reddy pelting stones at the YSRC cadres. Stone pelting continued between the two groups till police intervened and dispersed the mobs.
Subsequently, Kadapa SP Siddharth Kausal issued notices to the town inspector and five sub-inspectors over failure to check violence.
On Tuesday, Two Town police registered cases against Amzad Basha and 21 YSRC leaders, apart from Telugu Desam politburo member Sreenivasulu Reddy and 24 TD leaders and cadres in connection with the violence.
Meanwhile, Proddatur police have registered a case against YSRC MLA Rachamallu Shivaprasada Reddy.
The Kadapa SP has cautioned Kadapa district police to be vigilant on the day of counting and prevent untoward incidents in the district.
