LS Polls: In a First, BJP Wins 29 out of 29 in MP, Shivraj, 2 Union Ministers including Scindia Win, Digvijay Loses

Bhopal: BJP is set to win all the 29 Lok Sabha seats in Madhya Pradesh.

The party has won 16 LS constituencies and has maintained an unassailable lead over its nearest rivals in the remaining 13 seats till last report came.

This is the first time; BJP has made a clean sweep of LS polls in Madhya Pradesh.

This is also the first time; Congress has drawn a blank in the LS polls in the state.

“BJP has created a record in this LS poll by winning all the 29 seats in Madhya Pradesh”, state BJP secretary Rajneesh Agrawal said.

Besides, the party has also achieved its target of winning polls in maximum polling booths.

Interestingly, the party candidates, barring two, have won the elections in their respective constituencies by a massive margin of votes.

Notable among the winners are former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union ministers Jyotiraditya Scindia and Faggan Singh Kulaste and state BJP president Vishnu Dutt Sharma.

Mr Chouhan won the polls in his home turf of Vidisha by a margin of over eight lakh votes.

Mr Scindia won from Guna by a margin of over 5.40 lakh votes.

Mr Sharma won from Khajuraho by margin of 5.25 lakh votes.

Similarly, BJP candidate from Bhopal Alok Sharma won the seat by a margin of over 5.15 lakh votes.

In Sagar, BJP candidate Lata Wankhede won the polls by a margin of 4.70 lakh votes.

BJP’s Indore candidate Shankar Lalwani won the elections by a record margin of over 11 lakh votes.

Congress which has fielded candidates in 27 out of 29 seats has drawn blank.

While the party had left Khajuraho seat to its ally Samajwadi Party, Congress candidate in Indore seat Akshay Kant Bam withdrew his nomination at the last minute.

The Congress stalwarts who lost the polls included party veteran and former chief minister Digvijay Singh who lost to BJP candidate Rodmal Nagar in Rajgarh seat by margin of over 1.41 lakh votes.

Similarly, Nakul Nath, son of Congress veteran Kamal Nath, has failed to retain his Chhindwara seat in the poll.
