Bhubaneswar: MAS Holdings, South Asia’s largest apparel manufacturer, marked a significant milestone on Sunday by breaking ground for its first apparel park in Odisha at Bhuinpur, Khurda district. This strategic investment aligns with the Odisha government's efforts to attract industrial investments, with a strong focus on boosting the textile and apparel sector.
The ceremony was attended by senior officials from the Odisha government, Odisha Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), and Industrial Promotion & Investment Corporation of Odisha Limited (IPICO), alongside MAS Holdings' leadership team.
The first production facility at MAS Apparel Park is expected to commence operations in 2026, focusing on manufacturing value-added apparel for both domestic and international markets. This initiative marks MAS Holdings' commitment to supporting India’s growing apparel needs while leveraging its global industry expertise.
Expressing optimism about the partnership, Malik Ahamadeen, CEO of MAS India, said, “We are delighted to collaborate with the Odisha government as we establish a robust apparel ecosystem in the region. Our goal is to enhance the textile sector while creating employment opportunities and contributing to the region’s economic growth.”
Suren Fernando, Group CEO of MAS Holdings, emphasised the strategic importance of this investment, stating, “This marks a significant milestone in MAS’ journey. With 25 years of operational experience in India, we recognize the vast potential of the country’s manufacturing landscape, catering to both global supply chains and the growing domestic retail market.”
Spanning 60 acres, the MAS Apparel Park is envisioned as a holistic manufacturing hub, inspired by MAS's successful apparel parks in Sri Lanka. It aims to attract industry partners, fostering an integrated supply chain that enhances speed and cost efficiency. Over the next decade, the project is projected to generate 10,000 jobs and attract investments exceeding USD 140 million.
