Madhya Pradesh: A Day After House Wall Collapse Tragedy, Sagar DM, SP Removed

Bhopal: A day after nine children were killed in the collapse of a house wall in Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh, chief minister Mohan Yadav on Monday removed the local collector and superintendent of police from their posts.

Sagar district collector Deepak Arya and Sagar district superintendent of police Abhishek Tiwari have been replaced by Sandeep G R and Vikash Kumar Sahwal in their respective posts.

Similarly, sub-divisional district magistrate (SDM) in Sagar Sandeep Singh was also removed from his post.

In another development, superintendent of local primary health Centre Dr Hari Om Bansal was placed under suspension on charges of dereliction of duty.

Meanwhile, the local people have claimed that the high-decibel D J music blared in the temple where the tragedy took place on Sunday morning might have contributed to the collapse of the wall of the house adjoining the shrine.

They claimed that the high vibration caused by the DJ music might have pulled down the wall of the dilapidated house.

The wall collapsed immediately after the DJ music started in the temple, the eyewitness account said.

The tragedy occurred when several children were busy making clay idols of Lord Shiva as per a local religious event.

The wall of the dilapidated house was given support of bamboo by the house owner to protect it from the rains experienced in the region for the last three days.

As many as 13 children were buried under the debris of the wall and were removed by the local people and police.

While nine children died, four others were injured in the incident.
