MP Govt Conducts Study on Seer Who Lives on Narmada Water

Bhopal: A study sponsored by the Madhya Pradesh government is being conducted on a Jabalpur-based seer to explain scientifically the ‘miracle’ of his ‘living only on Narmada water since October 19, 2020’.

Seer Samarth Sadguru Dada Guruji who entered the Golden Book of World Records in 2023 for observing ‘fast for 1,000 days incessantly for the cause of Narmada river conservation and environment protection’, has claimed to have been leading a normal life by taking only Narmada water since October 19, 2020, drawing the attention of the state government.

The Narmada Mission, an NGO founded by the seer has recently proposed the state government to make scientific study on his body for sustaining without food and only on Narmada water for the last three years and seven months, official sources said.

The state government has cleared the proposal of the Narmada Mission and constituted a committee of medical experts headed by former Head of the Department, cardiology, of government-run Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital at Jabalpur in the state Dr R S Sharma to conduct a medical study on him.

“We began a study on him on Friday. He will be under our observation for a week. All his health parameters will be monitored regularly during the period. He has been kept under the round-the-clock surveillance of CCTV cameras and police till the study completes”, Dr Sharma told this newspaper.

All his health parameters such as blood pressure, pulse, oxygen level, cholesterol level, blood sugar, and cardio-functioning are being monitored regularly and data on his health parameters is being compiled for analysis.

The findings will be submitted before the registrar of the Medical Council of India within three weeks.

The other members of the committee are associate professor, department of medicine in the college, Dr Prasant Panekar, and associate professor of pathology department Dr Rajesh Mahobia.

Samples of Narmada water have been sent to Madhya Pradesh Council of Science and Technology and pathology department of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College to conduct a study on the medicinal properties of the water, according to him.

The study may unearth certain unknown facts on how nature generates energy in living beings, he added.

The seer is physically and mentally active and leading a normal life, he added.
