New Railway Line From Peddapalli to Manuguru

Nod for proposal sent by Congress government

Karimnagar: The central government issued a notification giving nod to the special railway coal corridor between Peddapalli and Manuguru railway stations, combining four districts -- Peddapalli, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally and Bhadradri Kothagudem.

After identifying the regions covering the Singareni coal mines, and as part of the efforts to lay a railway line through 207km in the four districts, the railway ministry issued orders to the officials of the four districts to acquire land in their respective districts.

The project was proposed in 1999 by officials of the railway department and the survey was completed. But, due to some reasons, the works were not taken up. However, a proposal that was sent to the railway ministry by the Congress government won the nod of the central government.

The project is being taken up at a cost of Rs 2,911 crore. At present, coal is transported to various regions through Kazipet railway junction. This involves a lot of cost. With the laying of a new railway line between Peddapalli and Managuru, this cost will drastically come down. It will also reduce the travel time of those travelling between Peddapalli and Bhadradri Kothagudem.

At present, the passengers are travelling through Kazipet to reach Kothagudem from Peddapalli. With the completion of the new railway line, they can easily reach Kothagudem through Mulugu and Bhupalpally districts.

It is also going to be easy for the devotees of Medaram Sammakka-Saralamma to reach Mulugu district either from Peddapalli or Kothagudem districts.

The railway department has notified the places for the establishment of railway stations in the four districts and started the by-pass railway line works through Pedda Bonkur village from the railway junction in Peddapalli district.
