TD Questions Interim Bail for Pinnelli
Tirupati: The Andhra Pradesh High Court's decision to grant conditional anticipatory bail to Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy in the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) vandalism case has drawn sharp criticism from the opposition Telugu Desam (TD) party leaders. Addressing the media after visiting the Tirumala temple on Friday, TD MLC Babu Rajendra Prasad questioned how the Court could issue such an interim order protecting the YSRC’s Macherla MLA from arrest until June 6.
"The court order in the EVM vandalism case has come as a surprise. It is a known fact that the police had intentionally delayed the arrest of Pinnelli only to save him and give him enough time to get a bail", alleged Prasad. The MLC further expressed disbelief that the courts would provide protection to someone accused of tampering with EVMs, calling it an unprecedented judgment in India's history. "How did the courts provide protection to the person who damaged EVMs?" Prasad asked, urging the higher courts to reconsider the judgment. He stated that people's faith in democracy would only be reinstated if Ramakrishna Reddy is arrested and jailed for the alleged EVM vandalism.
