Tight Security for Counting in Kurnool: Collector G. Srijana

Kurnool: Kurnool district Collector G. Srijana on Saturday told the officials to make tight security arrangements particularly in the sensitive areas in the district ahead of the counting of votes on June 4. She held a meeting with the police and district officials on Saturday to review the security arrangements for the counting to be held at the Rayalaseema University campus.

Kurnool SP G. Krishnakanth said that 188 sensitive areas were identified, and 31 checkposts were set up at key junctions in Kurnool, Yemmiganur, Adoni, and Pathikonda towns to prevent any untoward incidents on the counting day. Krishnakanth gave a detailed report on the the security measures in place during the meeting. He stated that 57 Quick Response Teams, led by circle inspectors and sub-inspectors, were formed for patrolling in all sensitive areas.

Additionally, 67 route mobile teams and shadow parties were also being arranged to cover 10 to 12 problematic villages, each headed by assistant sub-inspectors and head constables. He said that all people involved in the poll-related violent incidents during the elections were arrested with notices issued under CrPC 41A. Regular cordon and search operations were being conducted in the sensitive and problematic villages.

Notices were issued to petrol stations to prohibit the sale of loose petrol and to firecracker sellers to restrict sales on the counting day. Further, Collector emphasized the importance of the security measures and praised the district SP, police officers, and staff for their continuous efforts to maintain peace and order, noting that the polling in Kurnool district was conducted very peacefully.
