Supreme Court to Hear TTD’s Laddu Prasadam Case Today
Vijayawada: Supreme Court will hear a batch of writ petitions on Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams laddu prasadam controversy from 10:30 a.m. on Friday.
The apex court had been scheduled to hear the petitions at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. However, it rescheduled the hearing to Friday, as Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought an adjournment.
Supreme Court had on September 30 heard a batch of petitions filed by BJP senior leader Subramanian Swamy and YSR Congress MP and former TTD chairman Y.V. Subba Reddy, among others.
The petitioners had sought a probe monitored by the court or by a retired judge of the apex court into adulteration of ghee used in preparation of the laddu prasadam with animal fat. Supreme Court asked the Solicitor General to assist the court in deciding whether the investigation by the Special Investigation Team constituted by the AP government should continue, or the investigation must be conducted by an independent agency.
