New Delhi: United States President Donald Trump has congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the BJP's recent "historic and decisive" electoral victory in the States of West Bengal and Assam.
"The President congratulates Prime Minister Modi on this recent, historic, and decisive election victory," White House spokesperson Kush Desai was quoted by media reports as saying.
The BJP swept to power in West Bengal by defeating the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and ending its 15-year reign while crossing over 200 seats in an Assembly of 294 seats. The BJP also retained power in Assam with a massive victory. The BJP-led NDA also retained power in the Union Territory of Puducherry under one of its constituents, the NRC.
