Will Withdraw From Contest if Modi Stops VSP Privatisation: Botsa Jhansi

Visakhapatnam: YSRC's Vizag MP candidate Botsa Jhansi has declared her readiness to step back from the electoral race if privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant is halted.

“If Prime Minister Narendra Modi announces that VSP will not be privatised, I am prepared to withdraw from the election arena,” Jhansi remarked on Saturday in Vizag at a press conference addressed by the Botsa couple, who are known for their strong political views.

Both Jhansi and Botsa Satyanarayana vehemently criticised the NDA alliance, stating that voting for it will be akin to endorsing the sale of VSP. They expressed outrage that Modi had visited the state but had not addressed the VSP privatisation issue.

Jhansi asserted that Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy is working to protect Visakhapatnam Steel Plant from privatisation. She mentioned that under his leadership, AP Legislative Assembly had passed a resolution urging the centre and PM Modi not to privatise VSP.

“This shows the CM’s sincerity towards the issue,” Jhansi maintained. She pointed out that during her time as an MP, she had played a key role in raising the status of VSP from Mini Navaratna to Navaratna.

“I raised the issue of allocating captive mines to Visakhapatnam Steel Plant on numerous occasions,” she pointed out.

At the press conference, minister Satyanarayana accused Chandrababu of being a copycat. He alleged that apart from copying the YSRCP's manifesto, Babu has also stolen YSRC's election slogans, such as "Bye Bye" from "Bye Bye Babu" and YSRCP's catchy election slogan "Siddham".

Botsa strongly condemned the language being used by Chandrababu in his election campaigns.
