AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan gets anticipatory bail in obstruction case

Rouse Avenue Court provides interim protection from arrest; Khan directed to join investigation

Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Tuesday granted anticipatory bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan in a case concerning the alleged obstruction of public servants during an arrest operation in Jamia Nagar earlier this month.

The court provided interim protection from arrest and instructed Khan to cooperate with the ongoing investigation. The Delhi Police had registered a case against Khan for allegedly hindering the arrest of an individual named Shavej Khan, who was a proclaimed offender.

During the proceedings, the Delhi Police presented CCTV footage and witness statements to support their allegations. The court had previously extended interim protection to Khan and directed him to join the investigation.

Khan's legal team argued for his anticipatory bail, emphasizing his willingness to cooperate with the authorities. The court's decision to grant bail reflects its assessment of the evidence and the circumstances surrounding the case.

This development has garnered significant attention, highlighting the ongoing legal proceedings involving the AAP MLA. The case underscores the complexities of law enforcement operations and the legal processes that follow.
