Delhi HC reserves order on MLC K Kavitha's bail plea

New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday reserved it's order on bail plea filed by BRS MLC K Kavitha in cases involving both Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) relating to Delhi excise policy case.

The legal team of the BRS leader argued for her bail in both the cases and highlighted her co-operation with the national agencies.
A senior advocate representing for Kavitha has submitted to the court that out of almost 50 accused in the case, Kavitha is the only woman. He pointed out that section 437 of CrPC has given additional support to women. While, it does not mean an automatic right of bail, it does offer a better right of consideration.
However, both the CBI and ED had opposed Kavitha's plea seeking bail and argued that she is an influential figure and might tamper the evidence and influence the witnesses.
