Kolkata: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned top Tollywood actress Rituparna Sengupta for questioning in the ration scam. The notice was sent through email on Wednesday.
The ED asked her to appear at its office in the CGO Complex of Salt Lake in the morning of June 5, a day after the Lok Sabha Election results.
ED sources claimed that the ration scam probe has thrown light on a transaction between an arrested accused in the case and the Bengali filmstar.
The ED wants to verify her version to unearth the money trail, sources added. It is also not ruling out the possibility of use of proceeds of the scam in the movie production.
No comments were available from the heroine. According to sources, she is on a personal visit to the US. This is however not the first time she came under the central agency's scanner.
In 2019, Ms Sengupta was questioned by the ED in connection with its probe into the Rose Valley chit fund scam.
