Hyderabad: The NEET-UG 2024 has become a major controversy with the question paper being leaked and as many as 67 aspirants securing highest score of 719 out of the total 720 marks.
Several shortcomings were revealed in the conduct of NEET-UG 2024 conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The third party which reviewed the conduct of the exam in nearly 399 centres of the total 4,000 centres the exam was held found that there were no CC cameras in a few exam halls while they were not functioning in some other centres.
According to the NTA rules, two CC cameras should be there in each exam hall.
The third party also found that there was no security of guards at the rooms where the question papers were stocked in the centres.
The third party review was held right on the day NEET exam was conducted. Of the 399 centres examined by the third party, 186 did not have both of the cameras. According to the rule, the feed from the CC cameras at the centres should reach the central control room at the NTA headquarters in New Delhi.
At 68 centres, there was no proper security at the rooms the question papers were stored. As per the rules, there should be security till the question papers are distributed to the aspirants.
In 83 centres, the staff at the exam hall were different from those registered in the biometric list.
The third party review is meant to ensure that there are no malpractices in any of the exam centres on the examination day.
The third party appoints the observers who submit the report on the implementation of the rules prescribed by the NTA.
It has been proved that there was leakage of the question paper. Several arrested aspirants confessed that they had got the question paper the night before the examination day.
On the other hand, NEET scam mastermind Amit Anand said that he collected Rs 30-Rs 32 lakh from each student who took the question paper.
