Fire in Kattedan plastic godown
Hyderabad: A massive fire broke out at a plastic godown at Sri Sai Balaji Nagar in the industrial area of Kattedan in Rajendranagar in the early hours of Wednesday. However, no casualties were reported.
Huge flames emanated from the godown located on the premises that created panic in the area. Mounds of plastic materials, drums and paints stored in the godown suddenly went up in flames with thick smoke billowing. Local residents and labourers became panic stricken and alerted the Rajendranagar police who in turn called the fire department. Fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the raging fire. “The godown which housed paints and other plastic material were completely gutted,” police said adding that the labourers were fast asleep in the adjacent sheds who were rescued.
“We received a call at 3.30 am and reached the spot immediately and controlled the fire by 3.40 am. The materials stored in the godown were completely gutted. A few labourers, who were staying in the sheds, were shifted to a safer location,” V. Chandra Naik, Station Fire Office, Rajendrangar said.
The police said that the exact cause could be ascertained only after investigation. It is suspected that the fire is caused due to short circuit.
