Gujarat ATS arrests four Sri Lankan and IS terrorists

The quartet was arrested following a tip off about a Sri Lankan national’s arrival at the airport. The ATS said the four accused, who were arrested from the airport, were Sri Lankan citizens and terrorists of the Islamic State (IS).

According to officials, all four suspects have been interrogated, and investigations are underway to determine if they have any sleeper cell connections in the State. Focus is also being laid on the reasons behind the arrival of Sri Lankan nationals to Ahmedabad.

In August last year, the ATS arrested three persons from Rajkot for their alleged links to Al Qaeda. They were prima facie working for a Bangladeshi handler to radicalise and recruit people for the banned terrorist organisation.
