Hyderabad: Activists Want Action on Weak Trees

Hyderabad: Two people died when a tree fell on them while they were riding bikes in heavy rain and strong winds in Kesara. The deceased were identified as Nagi Reddy Ram Reddy, 56, and the pillion rider, Danunjay, 42, residents of Bommalaramaram village. The accident occurred as they reached Venugopal Swamy Road, Thimmaipally, when a tree was uprooted by strong winds and fell on the passing bikers.

Another pillion rider, also identified as Dhanunjay from Bommalaramaram village, sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead. Police arrived at the scene and started an investigation. Officials refused to provide more details about the incident.

Meanwhile, Keesara DPRO U. Aruna stated that an investigation is underway. She advised the public to stay indoors to avoid accidents like this.

Meanwhile, social activists sought safety measures during monsoons. "We have been urging officials to remove fragile trees to prevent such dangers every year. We sincerely urge local authorities to take appropriate actions because every monsoon, we witness several incidents of deaths due to tree falls," said Ananda Padmanabham.
