AP-run school records high enrolment
Kadapa: Usually parents opt to send their children to a reputed private school and even pay donations and get someone high up to put in a good word to get a seat for their children.
But, in Kadapa, it is just the opposite. Very interestingly, a government primary school at Kothapeta Ramapuram in Rayachoti municipality limits made record level admissions; and displayed a board saying ‘no vacancy for new admissions’.
The commitment of the teachers, the way of teaching makes this school more than a private institution. This school has 1st to 5th standard and the total number of 480 students in this school. This is the highest strength for a primary school in the district. In first standard there are 105 students, second standard has 100, third standard 115, fourth standard 100 and fifth standard there are 60 students. Every class has two sections.
The building has eight rooms on the first floor and eight rooms on the second floor. The primary school is running on the first floor.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, the headmaster of the primary school, Ramisetty Chennakesavulu said although there were six private schools surrounding this school in Rayachoti, their school was running successfully with the co-operation of the parents. He conducts parents’ meets periodically for which the expenditure is met by him.
At present, nine teachers are working here and three more need to be appointed. When he joined the school in 2011, the strength was 60 and it has grown to 480 today. He said that the teachers promote admissions in the summer vacations.
“We have designed special coaching classes for the entrance exams for Andhra Pradesh model school, and every year 10 to 15 students have been selected. This is a big milestone for this school,” he said.
